Slump at One Tree
After a riveting performance by breathtaking blues-man Bernard Allison on Saturday, Chico & The Gypsies set the stage ablaze on the second day of the much loved One Tree Music Festival 2009. An exotic blend of influences of Spanish flamenco, Afro-Cuban rhythms, salsa, and pop didn’t disappoint fans. Chico Bouchiki, the man behind the early ‘90s sensation Gypsy Kings, played his chart-toppers such as Bamboleo and giving fans a chance to savour a bygone era of music. The unique blend of performances of blues by Bernard Allison and Latin vibes by Chico & The Gypsies also drew its fare share of stars. Spotted at the event were Farhan Akhtar, Amrita Arora, Parveen Dabbas, Preeti Jangiani, Kelly Dorjee, and our own old-time rocker Gary Lawyer.

Bummer The economic downslide seems to have hit everyone. The festival that featured only two acts was over too soon and just didn’t feel like the real thing.
