Cheating case: Dept transfers principal, frames new rules

Chandigarh, March 3 The UT Education Department has issued orders for the transfer of GMHS-24 principal Jaswant Singh. A case of cheating was reported from the school during the PSEB Environment Studies Class XII examination on Saturday.

A group of boys were reportedly found to be involved in copying with the assistance of a superintendent Balbir Singh at the exam centre on Saturday.

DPI (S) S K Setia said, "A transfer order has been issued against the school principal. All the teachers on duty during the PSEB exams may be changed. We will also appoint observers at the centers to check instances of cheating in exams."

The Education Department had also proposed certain rules to check such incidents.

* A Chandigarh School Education Board will be formed to deal with examination issues
* A full time observer will be at the examination centers.
* External teachers to be appointed on duty.
* External marking of answer sheets from the next session.

A number of other rules have also been framed by the department.
