Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee’s convoy was today forced to divert its route during lunch break after Trinamool Congress workers held a demonstration against the passage of a Health Bill in the state Assembly. The activists, who were driven away from the Writers’ Buildings, gathered at BBD Bag East near Stephens House nearby through which Bhattacharjee’s convoy usually passes. The police, however, diverted the CM’s convoy to the opposite side of the square to avoid the protesters.
