Nazia, along with 11 other children, is among the first batch of students, who were trained by the Central Institute of Education and Technology, in a workshop on audio visual production. Coordinated by District Institute of Education and Technology (DIET), the six-day workshop saw 12 children teaming up to learn the nuances of film making. When the workshop concluded on Saturday, they were shared their views about the two films they made - Jigyasa and Sankalp.
“I saw the film cameras for the first time in my life. I really enjoyed watching my film,” said 14-year-old Ranjesh Kumar of Government Inter College, Lucknow. He was one of the children who shot Sankalp, a ten-minute short-film based on hygiene issues.
Rakesh Nigam, senior TV producer with Education TV, who was on the training team, said that it was indeed a novel concept to let children express their feelings on issues close to their hearts.
“The story was finalised after holding discussions with them. They were the ones to decide on the locations as well. It was interesting to see the children learning the nuances of film-making and editing with enthusiasm,” said Nigam.
The films will now be shown as entries in the National Children’s Audio Video Festival, to be held in New Delhi in April.
