Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor of PU, Prof R C Sobti, called ‘China a force to reckon with’.
He highlighted the need to respond to the wake up call owing to China’s massive hold on the international market.
Former Dean of the Social Sciences and former Head of the Department of East Asian Studies, Delhi University, Prof Kashi Ram Sharma, in his key note address dwelled upon various important aspects of China’s political, economic and administrative policies.
Former Vice-Chancellor of PU, Prof M M Puri, presided over the inaugural function. He firmly expressed the necessity of understanding China instead of being overawed by its development. He referred to the rail linkage between Beijing and Lhasa as a fantastic work of engineering and its implication. He highlighted how Chinese goods are corroding the Indian economy and called China “a challenge”. Participants from Delhi University, JNU, Visva Bharati, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jaipur University, IDS, Jaipur, Panjab University were present at the seminar.
