Christian Medical College Hospital to get 8-bed burn unit soon

Ludhiana The Burn Unit at Christian Medical College will soon get a new section with — eight beds, a similar number of oxygen cylinders and suction points, along with air conditioning — thanks to a matching grant of $ 18,500 (Rs 7.4 lakh) received from the Ludhiana North Rotary Club.

This was stated by Dr Vijay Obed, Plastic Surgery department, Christian Medical College and Hospital, on Wednesday. He said the department has been serving the country for the last many decades with excellent patient care and treatment of burn patients. In addition to looking after routine patients, he said, the burn unit of the hospital has managed many casualties, including — the Dabwali fire, Khudd Mohalla fire, Frontier Mail fire tragedy, MIG crash in Jalandhar, Jallandhar bus bomb blast — apart from handling other minor and major casualties. Dr Obed said this is the first matching grant of the Rotary Club Ludhiana North, made possible by generous donation from members of the club here and abroad and the CMC Hospital.
