CID records statements of two policemen

Pune The state Criminal Investigation Department has recorded the statements of two policemen, including two senior officers, in the custodial death case at Warje police station.

Amol Raghunath Kuchekar (27) had died last week while he was in the custody of the Warje police. He was handed over to the police by the residents of Tejovalay Society in Warje who caught him while he was trying to break into a house in the society.

According to the police, they had called in a private doctor after Kuchekar began vomiting. As per doctor’s instructions, he was admitted to the Sassoon Hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. Forensic reports had said that Kuchekar died of multiple shocks.

Meanwhile, Collector Chandrakant Dalvi has ordered a magisterial probe into the case.
