CID sources confirmed that the reports were ready and that they would be submitted to the Home Department within a week.
Sadre, a prominent nephrologist known for performing several successful kidney transplants, had filed a case with the Bundgarden police in 2006 alleging that Doiphode and Buchke had tried to extort Rs one crore from him by threatening “to expose his involvement in a kidney scam.”
Sadre had alleged that he had been called by the duo to a hotel in 2006, where they had threatened him, claiming to have detailed evidence of his involvement in a kidney racket. The case had been handed over to the Economic Offences Wing for further investigation.
Meanwhile, Buchke, who lives in the Vikhroli suburb of Mumbai also filed a case with the State Home Department in February 2006, citing the nephrologist’s involvement in a kidney racket reiterating her stand that she possessed evidence to substantiate her claim. On May 5, 2007, the CID had taken over the investigation of the cases comprising allegations of both the parties.
Sadre had lodged a complaint at the Bundgarden police station in 2006, alleging that the Deputy Director of Health Services (Pune region) Yashwant Doiphode and three others were trying to extort Rs one crore by falsely implicating him in a kidney sale case.
