The officers are also awaiting Manna’s postmortem report scheduled to be delivered on Monday.

According to the CID, on February 10, after Manna left home, he had called up the girl. Over the last few months, Manna had reportedly confided to her about the “pressure” he felt and said he was depressed.

A senior officer said: “She is vital to the case since she was one of the closest persons to Manna. We are looking forward to talk to her tomorrow or the day after.”

Manna was scheduled to marry the girl, a resident of Baltikuri in Howrah, in April.

Though it was an arranged marriage, yet the two were close and occasionally went out together.

“That day he had called me. He was very depressed and told me the marriage may not take place. He said his life was shattered. I was shocked and asked him what had happened. He merely said he was in a bad situation,” the girl told The Indian Express over phone.

She added: “Of late he was very tense and sad. He used to always say he was under tremendous mental pressure. In spite of my asking him several times, he did not elaborate.”

On Saturday, a team of CID officers had visited Manna’s house at Dasnagar in Howrah and recorded the statements of his father, mother and brother.

The officers are also trying to find people who had seen Manna on the morning of February 11 near Mankundu station, where around 8 am his body was found.

“Initially, we heard that a tea shop owner and a few others have seen Manna loitering. But till now, no one has come forward. We are trying to find eyewitness who have seen Manna before his death,” said a senior officer.

The officers are also checking Manna’s call details to trace those who had spoken to him days before his death. Investigating officers have already spoken to a few of his colleagues.
