He’s 21 and knows time comes back for none. Maybe that’s why Sanjot Malhi, a city boy, has taken to doing things at express speed. Malhi happens to be the youngest and the first Indian to be selected for the MBA programme at the Yale School of Management, USA, under the Silver Scholars Program.

Due to join the course in August 2009, Sanjot, as he picks up his selection letter, says: “It’s my relentless pursuit for knowledge and learning that keeps me afloat.”

Under the program, the university selects a handful of exceptional undergraduate students without work experience world-wide, he says.

“I have also been named as the recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship, based on my achievements and potential for success,” said Malhi, who has recently completed his Electrical & Electronics Engineering (Honours) degree from BITS, Pilani.

“At BITS too, I completed the four-year degree in three and a half years due to additional credits,” he adds.

A product of St Johns High School and having completed Class XI and XII from DAV College, Sanjot scored 760 marks out of 800 in the GMAT examination, “one of the highest marks in the world,” he points out.

Detailing his other pursuit, Sanjot says: “I have undertaken research as a summer intern at IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland. I was the youngest intern and the only one without any full time work experience. I have also worked on a tripartite initiative of the Government of India, the Confederation of India Industry and IMD, Switzerland, for inclusive growth in India.”

Well-versed with many foreign languages including Dutch, French and Spanish besides English, Hindi and Punjabi, Sanjot switches roles with ease.

“I am a national football player and have played the Santosh Trophy for Chandigarh state team,” he said. Here too, he bags the tag of being ‘one of the youngest participants ever.’
