Chandigarh “The Congress-led UPA government has failed on all fronts. Inflation was at an all-time high, unemployment increased and the country was a witness to many terror attacks.”

This was stated by Satya Pal Jain, the candidate fielded by the NDA for the Lok Sabha elections from the city, while addressing a media conference today.

“By showing reluctance to hold the Indian Premier League (IPL), the government has admitted that it is not capable of providing security to the people. The prices of petrol, diesel and LPG were at an all-time high during the regime of the present government. While the UPA had promised the creation of one crore jobs, an equal number of people have become jobless,” Jain said.

He further stated that the much-promised Women’s Reservation Bill was also not passed.

Calling the tenure of local MP Pawan Kumar Bansal a failure, Jain said that never before had the city witnessed a tussle of this kind between the UT Administrator and the local MP. The officials of the Administration are also involved in in-fighting. This has affected the development of the city.

Further stressing upon the need for an inter-state development council for the region, Jain said: “When we come to power, the city will be made slum-free. A service selection board to provide employment to the city youth would be set up.”
