The organisers said that the event was a meeting point for all ayurvedic doctors, surgeons, physicians and students. “This is a great place for us to gain more practical knowledge in ayurveda. While interacting with the public, we are getting opportunities to test our knowledge. Also, since there are many doctors from other fields, we can gain more knowledge on ayudervic practice from them,” said Priya Masand, a fourth-year BHMS student from DY Patil College. Delegates from Germany, UK and US are also participating in the event.
There was a good turnout on the first day and Mayor Raul’s idea of promoting alternative medicines and yoga programme seem to have received a good response from the public. “It certainly is a good initiative. There are a range of options here — from yoga to homeopathic medicines and the lesser known Unani and Siddha medicines— under one roof,” said Snehal Panchal, who visited the event on Friday. This event was earlier conducted in cities like Delhi, Varanasi, Haryana and Jodhpur.
