Class IX student held at knifepoint

Pune, March 3 An unidentified person on Friday last robbed valuables from a class IX class student Gaurav Bharat Kalyani (14), after holding him at knifepoint. He had gone for bird watching at the river site near Rajaram Bridge on Sinhagad Road at around 12.30 pm on Friday.

Kalyani, a resident of Bhavani Peth, has lodged a complaint with the Warje police station. According to the police, Kalyani had gone for bird watching with two friends. The trio was looking for birds when the accused approached them saying he knows a spot where they would be able to see more birds. The accused took the trio to an isolated spot in the river basin, where he raised his knife at them and looted Kalyani’s binocular, camera and money, worth Rs 21,040 in total. Investigation officer police sub inspector R R Shelke said the trio are students of a reputed Marathi-medium school in the city.
