Addressing a press conference, Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) R A Rajiv said, “The BMC has not received the kind of response that was expected in the beginning.” The civic body had appointed guards from four security agencies who were given ward-wise responsibilities of fining people who violate cleanliness and sanitation bylaws. When asked if the drive had gathered steam, Rajiv said, “It was yet to gain momentum.”
Rajiv said a half-day workshop would be conducted on Saturday for all clean-up marshalls and ward officers. “I will review the situation at the wards and accordingly steps will be taken to improve the situation,” he said.
