CM announces launch of Bal Sakha Yojna

Ahmedabad Chief Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of Bal Sakha Yojana as an integral part of the Chiranjeevi Yojana. Under the scheme, arrangement will be made for proper check up of newborns and infants by paediatricians. The main aim of the scheme is to bring down the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR).

This scheme is very good to save children mainly in neonatal period because more than 50% deaths occurred in this period only out of total infant deaths. Now there are two things which need to implement properly then only get success in this scheme. First is to conduct awareness activities at the village level so that woman who is pregnant get more support like emotional, psychological, physical, and nutritious food so that woman will be healthy and coming baby will also be normal (>2.5kg). Second thing, which is very important to do supportive supervision instead of inspection at all, levels like from district to village level (mainly at village level). This activity can do by the contractual staff who are given their more that 100% but they are getting back

well it is nice that Govt is infusing lot money for health care.However govt should take care that proper infrastructure development and utilisation of existing resources should be utilised before allowing children to get treatment from private agencies.(i.e.if children specialist available in govt then all beneficiary should first go to govt hospital first and they should have advantage of other private agencies if there is lack of facilities in that area.It will result in proper utilisation of govt agencies and it will prevent misuse of scheme by private agencies
