Chandigarh Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today ordered a magisterial inquiry into the raid conducted by the Vigilance department on the office of naib tehsildar Mullanpur Dakha in Ludhiana district last week.

Badal directed that a detailed report be submitted to him within a month. An assurance to this effect was given by the CM to the deputation of the Punjab Association of Tehsildars and District Revenue Officers, led by its president Ram Singh, that met him this evening. The CM also directed the Chief Secretary to ask the Vigilance department to conduct such raids as per the guidelines specified by the Revenue Department.

Referring to another demand of the revenue officers, Badal asked the Chief Secretary to examine their demand to allow promotions in their cadre, based on the principle of seniority-cum-merit, instead of nomination.

Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included Chief Secretary R I Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister D S Guru, Financial Commissioner Revenue Romila Dubey, Commissioner Patiala Division Jasbir Singh Bir and OSD to Chief Minister N S Sangha.
