In a letter written to the family, which has been delivered through a special messenger, Dhumal said he was pained and hurt over the death of Aman Satya Chachru.
“I extend my condolences to the entire family, especially the parents. The government will not spare any effort to see that the guilty are punished. I have already directed the police to complete the investigations and
file the challans as soon as possible,” he told the family.
Dhumal also informed the family about a magisterial inquiry in the case. The report of the inquiry will be available in 15 days and action will be taken accordingly.
Meanwhile, the state’s education department has started an exercise to frame new guidelines for principals and heads of institutions to effectively deal with cases of ragging. The authorities will be made fully accountable for any incidence of ragging or suppressing these cases. Said P.C. Dhiman, Principal Secretary (Education), “I have already started an exercise to see that ragging is banned and those who indulge or abet in it should be booked by the police. We realise the problem is more serious in professional colleges. I believe the government will be taking some concrete steps soon.”
