CME hosts national seminar on construction technology

Pune To keep pace with recent advances in the construction industry, the College of Military Engineering (CME), Dapodi, organised a two-day seminar named 'Construction Technology: Emerging Trends and Challenges in the 21 century' on February 6 and 7. Attended by more than 100 delegates and technocrats from across the country, including Dr S C Saxena, director, IIT-Rorkee, Lt Gen Gautam Dutt, engineer-in-chief, Corps of Engineers and Lt Gen A K Nanda, director general, Border Roads Organisation, the seminar stressed on upgrading technical knowledge through efficient knowledge management.

"There were various sessions on extensive use of green and eco-friendly materials, retrofitting and rehabilitation of old and prestigious buildings and effective use of information technology in construction engineering," said Lt Col Amod Chandna, PRO, CME. "These sessions helped in evolving economic yet efficient, slender, strong, eco-friendly and aesthetic civil engineering structures. It also helped in implementing the latest technology to improve the quality of construction in the defence sector," he added.

An exhibition consisting of 22 stalls was also organised as part of the seminar, which had latest equipments, construction materials and software used in the construction industry displayed.

P R Swarup, director general, Construction Industry Development Council, New Delhi delivered keynote address at the seminar and other dignitaries such as Lt Gen USP Sinha, Commandant, CME, Dr M G Korgaonkar, director general NICMAR and Maj Gen Brajesh Kumar, director general, Works, New Delhi chaired various sessions.
