Ahmedabad The number of CNG refueling stations will be increased to 300 across the state to tackle the threat posed by global warming, said state Energy and Petroleum Minister Saurabh Patel.

Speaking at the concluding function of Oil & Gas Conservation Fortnight, 2009 (OGCF-2009) campaign in Gandhinagar on Saturday, Patel said: “In order to further boost the environment friendly climate in the state, and give impetus to the use of clean fuel, the network of the CNG stations will be further expanded in the state.”

The OGCF-2009, a nationwide campaign with an objective of promoting fuel efficiency in the country, was held from January 15 to 31.

It concluded with a mini-marathon and a special ceremony at GSPC Bhavan, Gandhinagar.

D J Pandian, managing director of the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Limited (GSPC), flagged off the mini-marathon, which was co-organised by the Petroleum Conservation Research Association and all oil PSUs, under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

In line with the objectives of the OGCF-2009 campaign, the GSPC had organised the marathon and a drawing and elocution competition for schoolkids in Gandhinagar. About 500 students participated in the competitions.
