Director B M Sharma has also been asked to pay the litigation amount of Rs 1,500.
Ashutosh, a Class XI student, had taken admission in the coaching centre at SCO 55-56 in Sector 30.
The total tuition fee for the session is Rs 16,875, which included Rs 15,000 as the fees and the rest is tax.
Ashutosh’s father paid Rs 5,000 on January 30, 2007 and Rs 11,875 on March 5, 2007. The course duration was one year, starting from April 2007 to March 2008.
According to Jas Pal’s complaint, Ashutosh tried his best to cope up with the teaching methods, but after three months (July 14, 2007) he discontinued his classes.
Jas Pal said that he informed the institute’s administration and asked them to refund the remaining fees.
But the administration refused to do the same. After running from pillar to post, Bansal approached the consumer court seeking compensation from the institute for the mental harassment he had undergone.
District Forum II maintained that, “We allow the complainant and direct the opposite party (BM SAP) to deduct Rs 5,000 of the total fees and to refund the balance of Rs 10,000 to the complainant along with litigation expenses of Rs 1,500.”
