“I am not lonely at all. In fact, I have stayed alone all my life,” says Rita Koch a jaunty 80-year-old at Coffee Morning— a fundraiser organised by Grant Govan Memorial home, an old age home and G4S employees at the British High Commissioner’s residence in Delhi. Koch is one of the eight residents of the Home, present at the fundraiser. On Wednesday morning, people gathered at the lawns of the British High Commissioner’s residence drinking coffee, shaking off the winter weariness by hopping between the 12 stalls offering old books, jewellery, scarves, ceramics and even old copies of 19th century illustrated newsletters from the British Raj. “The Coffee Mornings have been going for the past 12 years. This is just one of our activities and we hope to raise a healthy fund for the Home,” says David Hudson, Chairman of the Grant Govan Homes. Dariel Mathur, an eye surgeon set up a stall cranking out old books and clothes. “We have get-togethers for residents and would be having one around Easter,” shares Mathur who has been associated with the Home since 1998.
