Pune, February 1 The city continues to be in the grip of cold wave conditions with the mercury levels dipping to 6.4 degree Celsius on Friday, a five degree below normal.

Met department officials attributed the dip to the strong northerly winds and the cold air advection. IMD director Medha Khole said northern parts of the country had been facing severe cold wave conditions which is a usual feature in January-February.

On January 27, Pune recorded a minimum temperature of 5.8 degrees Celsius -- the lowest of the season. After that temperatures have been hovering around three to five degrees below the normal. Nashik has been recording low temperatures. On January 27, it recorded a minimum temperature of 4.4 degrees Celsius. And on Friday, it was 5 degree Celsius.
