Mumbai A 22-year-old youth was killed in a road accident on Monday morning. According to the police, one Anubhav Agarwal, a student of the Lala Lajpatrai College, was travelling in his car with two of his friends on DN Road. While trying to overtake a cab that was moving slowly, Agarwal lost the control over his car that rammed an electric post, said the police.

“As the road was too narrow for both the vehicles to pass each other, Anubhav, who was driving the car decided to overtake the cab. But while overtaking the cab, Anubhav lost control over his car and rammed an electric pole,” said PSI Sanjay Satpute of the MRA Marg police station. As per the police, a case of accident has been registered in the MRA Marg police station.

Agarwal’s friends — Hitesh Doshi (21) and Kayan Johani (22)— escaped the mishap unhurt. From the statements given by Doshi and Johani to the police, they were invited by Agarwal to his place at Jamshed Tata Road after which the trio went for a ride in Agarwal’s car to Worli sea face. “After a ride, they had dinner at the Light of Asia restaurant near the CST before travelling to Churchgate. On the way to Churchgate, they tried to overtake a cab. This led to the accident. Agarwal sustained head injuries while Doshi and Johani escaped unhurt,” said Satpute.

A police mobile wireless vehicle party informed the MRA Marg police about the accident. Though Agarwal was rushed to the St. George Hospital, he was declared brought dead. The blood samples of the trio were sent to the hospital to check whether they were under the influence of alcohol, but the police believe that they haven’t consumed alcohol. The family members of Agarwal and his friends were not available for comment.
