Kolkata The University of Calcutta has decided to issue a showcause notice to Saibal Chattopadhyay, the teacher of bio-chemistry at Ballygunje Science College who allegedly harassed girl students in the university campus.

Vice-Chancellor Suranjan Das said the university has also decided not to confirm his services. The teacher was one-year probabation which will end this June.

In April, the students’ union of the college had alleged that Chattopadhyay often harassed the girl students and there were many complaints against him. After a probe by the head of the bio-chemistry department of the college, the university formed a two-member committee which looked into the allegations against Chattopadhyay.
