Football frenzy
February 27 saw football fans rejoice, as the Budweiser 6v6 Cup Road show came to Pune, bringing in the excitement of the upcoming tournament. It gave local football players an opportunity to register for the Budweiser 6v6 Cup 2008. The Bud Cup truck was at BJ Medical Grounds on Wednesday and Rajiv Gandhi IT Park on Thursday.
25 teams each from states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and 200 teams from Goa will be chosen through a lucky draw to compete in the tournament, followed by regional eliminations on March 29 and 30, after which the regional winners will travel to Mumbai for national finals. The winning team will represent India and live the dream of playing against teams from 17 other countries at Old Trafford in Manchester on May 5.

Spreading cheer
In an initiative to bring its students closer to the social realities of life the Frankfinn Institute of Air Hostess Training visited the non profit organization – Akanksha Foundation in Pune. It was an initiative taken by the institute to sensitise its students. The aspiring students and the faculty of the institute interacted and staged a fun filled day for the children. On this occasion, Khushroo Arya,general manager, Quality Assurance and Personality Enhancement, said, "As a part of process of training students for the service industry the young boys and girls visit a social organisation to understand the importance of caring for people in order to become capable cabin crew.” Unni Warrier, centre head, Frankfinn Institute of Air Hostess Training, said, "Such programs are an integral part of our course as they inculcate a humane attitude of caring for people in our students.”

Mastering supply chain
Aarohan, a case study on supply chain management, organised at Symbiosis Infotech Campus, Hinjewadi is sceduled to take place on March 8. A concept developed entirely by students, deals with real life supply chain problems being faced by industries. Guest speakers for the event will be professionals from organisations of industry and academia. More than 50 teams, including those from IIM-A, IIM-B and IIFT are expected to be participating in this event. Out of all the entries received, the best six entries will be invited across to the institution for a formal round of presentation and an interactive session. This will be adjudicated by a panel of professionals, some of whom will also speak on the emerging trends and challenges in supply chain management, followed by a release of a compilation of the short listed case studies, which would be circulated across all B-Schools.

Personality Development
An11-day personality development program was recently organised by C K Goyal College with a purpose to instill soft skills in students. Classroom activities like reading various newspapers and periodicals were also conducted during the seminar. They planned 24 lectures for 55 students of third year from arts and commerce . Also, a number of experts, lecturers from different institutions and various fields delivered lectures on subjects like time management, presentation skills, interpersonal skills.

History and creativity
It was a creative day in the real sense for students of Vishwakarma Creative I College on March 2. About 42 students took part in a sculpture, landscaping and drawing competition organised at fort Jadhavgadh Heritage Hotel. The students were from first and second year of BFA Digital Arts course .The purpose of this event was to create awareness about heritage hotels and think creatively in those directions. They selected various themes for their sculptures right from realistic, abstract to faces. The students took help of carving tools and Siforex for sculptures and were guided by Vivek Nimabolkar and Rakhi Charwad.
