Ludhiana People have come to the aid of ailing Yashpreet Singh, a Class VIII student of Guru Nanak Public School, who is suffering from renal failure.

School principal R S Gill said, “All of us have donated a good amount of money for his kidney replacement. The school students have contributed Rs 3, 65,850.”

He further said with the help of a few non-governmental organisations, the school has arranged some more money.

Showing the letter of Master Manjit Singh Deol, an NRI, the principal said, “He has sent us Rs 2,26,000 for Yashpreet’s treatment. We have yet to receive the cheque. As soon as we get the cheque, we will hand it over it to Ravinder Singh Chawla, father of Yashpreet.”

Another NRI Hardeep Singh Manku has also donated Rs 1 lakh. Gill said, “This NRI is the brother-in-law of Jatinder Manku, one of the teachers in our school. I am looking forward to Yashpreet rejoining the school.”

Ravinder Singh Chawla, meanwhile, said, “I am thankful to everyone. I will donate my kidney to my son. We will admit him tomorrow at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital and hope the kidney would be transplanted by this week. He has become weak, so the doctors advised us to wait for two to three days.”
