“Regular updates on competitive exams, important developments taking place in higher-education domain, career opportunities in various subjects, career counselling and students’ guidance programmes will be one of the regular features of our radio programmes. Moreover, programmes on social issues like polio eradication, women’s empowerment will also be aired,” said Shafey Kidwai, chairman of Journalism and Mass Communication department.
The upcoming community radio and TV stations will function under the university's Journalism and Mass Communication department.
Officials said the programmes will be aired from the next academic session. “We have learnt that the Information and Broadcasting Ministry is likely to give us the nod for relaying the programmes in the next academic session,” said a senior official. The broadcast range of the programmes relayed by the will initially be restricted to a radius of 10 km.
