Ahmedabad The Estate Department in the north zone of the AMC has stumbled upon an interesting case of a nagging complainant being found to be the culprit, using the complaint as the shield to save his own skin.

Harish Makhija, the “complainant” not only kept sending complaints of illegal construction activity in the Sardarnagar ward, but also met senior officials to take urgent action against one Sanjay Brahmbhatt in this connection.

A visit to the spot revealed that Brahmbhatt was in fact erecting pillars in his own land to protect the remaining construction after removing the alleged illegal gallery projection.

An AMC release said the TDO team, which visited the place found that it was Makhija and his associates who were trying to buy Brahmbhatt’s house through force at a throwaway price, failing which they filed the complaint with the AMC.

Makhija, who had been complaining against Brahmbhatt throughout the day, was himself found to be constructing on the inside and the back margin as well as on the upper floor without any permission from the AMC.

The TDO officials gave a notice to Makhija to remove the unauthorised construction within seven days. As he refused to accept the notice, the officials had to stick it on his property. After the lapse of the notice period, the AMC will remove the construction and recover the cost of removal.
