Junagadh The Mangrol mamlatdar has lodged a complaint against six persons including two government officials for their alleged involvement in a land grabbing scam.

According to the complaint registered by Mamlatdar Aarti Vyas, the two government officials allegedly helped create illegal revenue entries for 1.03 acres of government land in favour of private parties on the basis of fake documents during 2000-2001.

The two government officials against whom the complaint has been lodged include the then mamlatdar of Mangrol and an official of Junagadh district land record office.

The four others allegedly involved in the scam are Hussain Bhata, Ismail Bhata, Ahmad Bhata, and Mohammed Kadu.

According to the complaint, the four private parties allegedly grabbed government land bearing Survey no 1,654 in Mangrol with the help of fabricated documents. The land was allegedly merged illegally with the adjoining land (Survey no 733).

Despite district collector's order dated 3rd June 2000, dismissing the revenue entry of the said land, the then mamlatdar over-ruled it on 9th March 2001, and made revenue entry in favour of private parties, says the complainant.

According to the complaint, an official with the district land record office helped the government officials in carrying out the illegal activity by stating that no revenue record of the said land was available with the land record office.

Following the complaint, Mangrol police has registered a case against the six accused under Sections 406, 420, 467, 468, 471, 120(B) and 114 of the Indian Penal Code.

An investigation in the case is under progress, said police.
