Comprehensive plan to develop Anandpur Sahib soon: Badal

Anandpur Sahib Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today announced that the state government will soon unveil a comprehensive plan for the development of Kandi areas in Hoshiarpur and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Nawanshahar) in Sri Anandpur Sahib districts to ensure equitable growth of the “economically backward areas”.

Addressing a rally at Anandpur Sahib, Badal assured the people that the government will frame a permanent solution to the hardships faced by the residents of these areas.

“I am in constant touch with the Union government to relax the norms of the Punjab Land Preservation Act so that the people can earn their livelihood comfortably,” he said.

On the occasion, Badal also disbursed cheques of development grants worth Rs 2.54 crore for the villages of Anandpur Sahib, Rs 1 crore for the Municipal Council of Anandpur Sahib and Rs 2.76 crore for the villages of Nangal. Badal also inaugurated a sewerage treatment van at Anandpur Sahib.

Parliamentarian Avinash Rai Khanna, MLA Sant Ajit Singh, former Minister Madan Mohan Mittal and SGPC member Gurinder Singh Gogi were also present on the occasion.
