New Delhi, March 3 Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra suspended Congress Councillor from Nehru Vihar Taj Mohammad from the next two meetings of the House on Monday. The reason for the suspension is the allegation that Mohammad had thrown a mike and hurt BJP Councillor from Jiwanpur Sanjay Kaushik during the Shahdara (north) zone meeting on Friday. Kaushik alleges that he had plates in his elbow due to an earlier injury and these were broken when “the mike hit him”. He also filed a complaint against Mohammad at the Welcome police station the same day but no FIR has been lodged till now.

Mohammad, however, said that when he was raising some important grievances of his area during the meeting, MCD officials present there were showing no interest. “I then threw the mike on the table and it did not hit anyone. But minutes later BJP Councillors began shouting that Kaushik's hand had been broken,” he said.

On Monday the matter led to slogan-shouting in the House. It began with BJP Councillors demanding punishment for Mohammad. They also circulated a medical report as proof of the injury. This led to Congress Councillors shouting slogans that the medical report was false.

There were two adjournments soon after but no debate was possible. Finally, the items listed were hurriedly passed with one being postponed and another being referred back.
