Ghaziabad Police say a former councillor’s two sons killed Sachin after a fight between their drivers over an accident

Congress councillor Vir Singh Choudhary’s 23-year-old son was allegedly shot dead by the sons of a former Congress councillor in Ghaziabad on Monday. The Ghaziabad police said the murder was the fallout of a fight that had taken place between their drivers after their vehicles collided with each other.

Officers said Choudhary’s truck, loaded with cement, hit former councillor Sheel Goswami’s car on Monday night, which resulted in the fight. When the drivers went back to their respective employers and complained about the accident, the police said, Choudhary’s son Sachin (23) went to the Goswami residence “to resolve the issue”. Both the families live in Nehru Nagar-III of Ghaziabad.

“There was a heated argument between Goswami’s two sons and Sachin. The situation turned violent and one of the brothers allegedly fired two shots at Sachin. He was rushed to Yashoda Hospital but could not be saved,” said Station House Officer Rajesh Diwedi.

Anticipating tension between the two neighbours, police personnel have been deployed in the area.

The Ghaziabad police have registered a case against Goswami and his two sons Pintoo and Udit. While Goswami has been taken into custody, his sons are reported to be at large. The police have recovered the gun used in the crime. “The gun was issued in the name of Sheel Goswami,” added Diwedi.
