Congress has worked for uplifting the poor: Bansal

Chandigarh The Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee (CTCC) held a public meeting at the grain market, Sector 26, on Sunday. The leaders listed out the achievements of the Congress-led UPA government in the past five years.

While addressing the gathering, local MP and Union Minister of State for Finance Pawan Kumar Bansal said, the party has taken numerous initiatives for uplifting the poor. “The city has received more funds in the budget than the previous years. One room tenements are being built for the rehabilitation of the poor. A number of self-help groups have also been started,” said Bansal.

President of the Chandigarh Territorial Youth Congress (CTYC) H S Lucky said the focus of the party is on smaller pockets and a massive rally will be held soon. The CTYC, meanwhile, held a meeting of its office bearers at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan, Sector 35. The meeting was presided over by Vinod Sultanpuri, secretary, Indian Youth Congress (IYC).

Earlier in the day, the CTYC also organised a medical camp in the Sector-27 community centre.
