Lucknow The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) is busy preparing a chargesheet against Chief Minister Maya-wati with details of incidents of corruption and crimes committed by those associated with her party. The charge-sheet will be made public on her birthday on January 15.

The UPCC will also raise the issue regarding her absence from a recent meeting called by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss internal security following terror attacks in Mumbai.

Alleging that the chief minister was more interested in her security than that of the nation, UPCC president Rita Bahuguna Joshi said: “It is sad and unfortunate that she did not bother to attend such an important meet. On the other hand, from time to time, she keeps talking of increasing her own security.’

The proposed chargesheet will be presented to Governor T V Rajeswar. The document is being given a final shape at the state Congress headquarters, with inputs from the district units across the state.

“Law and order was Mayawati’s main campaign issue in the Assembly elections. She has not only failed to address the issue, her own partymen have been found involved in all sorts of crime incidents,” Joshi said.

In Lucknow, Congress leaders will form a human chain, wearing black ribbons on Mayawati’s birthday. In the districts, local leaders and workers will hold dharnas on January 12 and release their own chargesheets, she added.
