According to the police, developers Janakbhai Champaklal Shah and Sanjay Amablal Shah of Shreeji Developers took money from the consumers, promising them possession, but never handed over the flats. The court has directed the Vadodara police commissioner to see to it that both are produced before the court on February 24.
P.O. Lad, President of the forum, has ordered a non-bailiable warrant against the two developers for cheating one Mahendra Shah of Rs 1.80 lakh.
Both the builders have been playing hide and seek with the police as well as the court. Earlier, the court had issued seven bailable warrants against the two, but none of them appeared before the court. The two appeared in the court and promised to repay Rs 1.80 lakh to Mahendra Shah after a non-bailable warrant was issued against them.
None of the two, however, kept the promise and repaid only Rs 90,000 to the complainant. They kept on postponing the clearing of the accounts. The case of Mahendra Shah was taken up by Jagrut Nagrik, a consumer protection organisation.
