“We do not know much about this departmental inquiry. Prajapati was a widower and shared this detail with no one, and decided to end his life,” said Investigating Officer, Madhavpura Sub-Inspector N M Vaghela.
According to a preliminary police inquiry, Prajapati was a loner. His wife had expired about 23 years ago. His daughter, Varsha is married, while his son, Manoj stayed with him. “Manoj works in a private firm and hardly had any interaction with his father. Manoj told us that Prajapati used to remain depressed. Of late, he would often seek solitude because of the ongoing departmental inquiry against him. It seems this anxiety provoked him to take this extreme step,” Vaghela said.
Prajapati’s body has been sent for postmortem and the Madhavpura police have registered a case of accidental death.
