Rajkot A Porbandar police constable and two members of his family committed suicide on Sunday. A day later, the police were still clueless about the reason behind the suicide of Karshan Suva (40), his wife Rambhi (35), and son Rajdeep (14).

The couple’s other son, Mukesh (8), and daughter escaped death.

The Porbandar police said on Monday that the body of Suva, a constable with the local crime branch, was recovered by the police after his eight-year-old son, Mukesh, who was also forced to consume poison by his mother, reached the police station and informed them about the incident.

The police found that Suva had shot himself on the head from with his service revolver. His body was lying in a pool of blood at his house in Gandhigram.

Later, the police recovered the bodies of Rambhi and Rajdeep from the outskirts of Bharkhla village. Separate cases have been registered. While the Udhyognagar police station is investigating Suva’s death, the Barkhala police station is probing the death of his wife and son.

According to the Udhyognagar police, minutes after Suva committed suicide, Rambhi left home with their two sons and forced them to consume poison and then consumed it herself.

Apparently, Mukesh had consumed very little poison. So, he walked up to the highway and reached Porbander on a chakkado rickshaw to inform the police.

“The preliminary investigation suggests that domestic quarrel might have taken its toll. But the precise reason is still not known,” said the police.
