Khanna, February 5 Samrala Police have registered a case against seven people, including a travel agent and a Head Constable, for cheating three people of Rs 54 lakh.

The accused have been identified as Sohini, a resident of Samrala, Baljit Singh of Machhiwara, Sam, Rajesh, Rajiv, all residents of New Delhi, and Head Constable Gurmail Singh posted in Jagraon Police District. All of them are absconding.

Complainant Harbans Singh of Bharthla village, Samrala told police, "Sohini introduced my nephew to Baljit for sending him to Canada". Gurmail Singh said they settled for Rs 25 lakh.

"After taking Rs 4 lakh in November, Baljit and his accomplices took Sukhwinder to New Delhi and my son Inderjit also accompanied them," he said.

"Rajiv, Sam and Rajesh took Sukhwinder to Kolkata airport, from there to Lucknow and then then to Kathmandu. Sukhwinder called us from Kathmandu saying that he had reached Canada... Baljit and his men took Rs 20 lakh from us," said Harbans.

"Later they also tempted my son Inderjit and his friend by offering to send them abroad. Indejit and his friend, Amanpreet, paid them Rs 15 lakh each. They, too, were taken to Kolkata," he said.
