Leader of the Rashtriya Lok Dal Chaudhary Ajit Singh met the victims’ families and assured them that he will take up the matter with UP Chief Minister Mayawati. Speaking to the media, Singh said, “The ministers of the BSP government have been taking law into their hands and the police have sold out to them.” Also present were district president of the party Bir Singh Yadav and ex-MLA Samir Bhati.
Yousuf’s father, Mohammad Ali, said, “We have telephone records as proof of Ravindra demanding money and threatening to kill the whole family. We had approached the police but no action was taken and now we have finally lost our children.”
Senior police officers are tight-lipped about the investigations. Copy of the complaints filed by the victims’ families show that Yousuf had sent letters to the President and PMO on November 12 last year after the Uttar Pradesh Police failed to take any action. Complaints had also been made to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Noida, on September 27 and on November 28, to the Inspector General of Meerut Zone on October 1, and to the Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh on November 12. The family had later approached the Allahabad High Court, which ordered security for the family but no action was taken.
SP (Rural) AK Vijeta have claimed that no request was made by the family to the police, while SSP A Sathish Ganesh said on Friday, “Arrangements for the security of the family had been almost completed before the incident happened. It is unfortunate that they were killed and we are investigating the case. Nobody will be spared.”
After the transfer of Gyanendra Kumar, SHO of the Kasna police station on Thursday, a constable, Chhadammi Lal, was suspended on Friday. Family members claim that Kumar had spoken with Yousuf on the phone 15 minutes before he was killed.
The Noida police arrested a security guard of the Paradise Transport Company which was owned by the deceased.
The guard had been paid to inform the perpetrators of the exact time when Yousuf, Shahabuddin and Suresh would leave the area, said the police.
After interrogating the guard, the police said the plan to kill the three men was hatched at Imalia village in Greater Noida. The arms used to kill the men had been procured from Bulandshaher and the call to inform the killers was made at around 11.30 am on Wednesday. The killers had then parked their Tata Indica near the office of Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation and later intercepted the Maruti 800 in which the three were travelling and shot them.
