Ahmedabad The city-based contractor, Narendrasinh Parmar, who was shot dead at Mithakhali Six Roads on Tuesday evening, had been suffering financial hardships. Senior police officers supervising investigations into the case said that Parmar’s financial condition might have led to his murder.

“We have learnt in our preliminary probe that Parmar was in a bad financial shape for the last few months. Whether this financial crunch was a reason behind his murder is under investigation,” said Mohan Jha, the Joint Commissioner of Police (Sector 1).

Parmar (42) used to deal in excavation, transportation of goods and cleaning works at government construction sites. Some unidentified person (s) had gunned him down around 8.30 pm on Tuesday when he had come downstairs from his third floor office at Sheel Complex near Mithakhali Six Roads at the end of the day’s work. He was shot at point-blank range, the police said.

Parmar was a resident of Chandrapuri Apartment in Vastrapur and managed the company Parth Earthmovers Ltd. He had begun taking contracts independently in 2004 and had grown exceptionally in his profession. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

“Parmar had put his money in some properties in the city. We are also investigating whether any of these was under mortgage or were involved in any dispute,” Jha added.
