Ludhiana The activists of the Purvanchal Party today held a demonstration outside the SSP office to protest against the manhandling of one of their fellows allegedly by the in-charge of a police post.

Addressing the dharna, the party leaders warned the police authorities that any delay in taking action against the accused police official would force them to launch an agitation.

Some factory workers went up in arms a couple of days ago after the Sherpur police post in-charge Harjinder Singh threatened them after they arrived at the police post to give bail of one of their companions. However the Sherpur police post in-charge Harjinder Singh denied all these allegations.

Later, the agitating migrant labourers were pacified following an intervention by the Focal Point SHO Pardeep Sandhu, who assured of an appropriate action against the in-charge of police post. But when no action was taken for two days, the migrants approached the Purvanchap Party, which has a big base among migrant population and the party today held a dharna outside the SSP office today.

The dharna was later lifted on an assurance given by the SSP R.K. Jaiswal, who promised to initiate an appropriate action in the matter.
