Gurgaon, March 5 The son of a Deputy Superintendent of Police has been arrested for robbing a Santro car on Monday, Gurgaon Police said.

According to the police, 28-year-old Pawan Kumar, the son of Ramphal Kumar DSP, Hisar district, was arrested in Palam Vihar early Tuesday morning with the car. Pawan has been sent to 14 days in judicial custody.

Police said Pawan and his accomplice, Gullu, who is absconding, called their friend, Vijender Sharma, to the petrol pump in Sector 9 late Monday night. After a minor altercation, they pulled Sharma out of his car and drove it away.

“They had some business dealings and we have been informed that Sharma owed some money to Kumar,” said Station House Officer Surender Singh.

SHO Singh said the accused were serious about recovering the money “and have confessed to stealing the car to recover the loaned money”.

After being pushed out of his car, Sharma called the police. Sharma’s FIR registered at the Sector 5 Police Station states, “They threatened to beat me and asked for the money which I had already paid them over a month back. But they would not listen and pushed me out of my own car.”

Pawan is a property dealer in Gurgaon and stays in Sector 23 with his family. He has been booked for looting and theft with a maximum imprisonment of one year and a fine of Rs 2,000.
