Mumbai The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mumbai, Dr Vijay Khole, has taken cognisance of an anonymous letter alleging corruption in various departments of the university and has appealed to employees to come forward in case they have more information about theallegations.

The complainant, who identified himself as M Gurav, had sent similar letters earlier also. Though the exact contents of the letter are not known, a source said it had accused both top and lower level employees of corruption.

Dr Khole had received the letter around 15 days ago. The Vice-Chancellor said in his letter, which was sent to all departments of the university on Monday, that similar letters sent earlier had not yielded any results as the university lacked details and proof.

He said the letter did not mention any names. “The letter makes only general statements. It does not give any concrete examples of corruption or malpractice in the university. So I have appealed to all employees to come forward and share details so that we can initiate some action,” he said.

According to Dr Khole, the university of Mumbai had received several similar letters during the tenure of former Vice-Chancellor Balchandra Mugekar also.
