Cost, works accountants’ meet takes up corporate governance

Chandigarh, December 31 Panchkula Chapter of Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI) organised a talk on ‘Corporate Governance’ today. Puneet Abrol, Vice-President, Punjab Chemicals and Crops Protection Limited, delivered the keynote address.

He touched upon the recent amendments made in Company’s Act, 1956, SEBI Act, and other related Acts, so that complete transparency can be worked out in the functioning of the corporate sector to protect the stock holders’ interest.

Abrol also talked about the pre-liberalisation scenario of corporate sector and the requirement of international bodies and their expectations from the Indian corporate sector in the present era of globalisation.

He elaborated the responsibilities, accountabilities and duties of the promoters, board of directors, independent directors, audit committees, authorised representatives and professionals of the corporate world.

Chairman T S Khuranna, Senior Vice-Chairman Gulshan Arora and Joint Secretary of the chapter Anil Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
