Ludhiana After AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari gave an audience to despondent Congress councillors of Ludhiana east constituency, the elective members plan to meet Punjab Congress Affairs in-charge Mohsina Kidwai.

The councillors rue that former Congress MLA Surinder Dawar from the constituency is interfering in the daily functioning. Ashok Bagga, one of the councillors said, “Dawar is playing dirty politics with us. Instead of appreciating our work, he is promoting the party rebels and hence creating a bad scene. We are holding a meeting this Saturday and to decide on the future course of action.”

Prem Mittal, head of the opposition also said, “If so many councillors are having a problem, Dawar should sort out his differences.”

BJP councillors also have shown discontent with Local Bodies minister Manoranjan Kalia. A group of councillors had even complained to the CM during one of his visits to the city. BJP councillors head Gurdeep Singh Neetu said Kalia hardly listened to their grievances.

Meanwhile, Youth Akali Dal councillors too are visibly divided into two factions. Unhappy with the functioning of the mayor, the differences were wide open in the general House meeting. With the Lok Sabha elections a couple of months away, councillors in the city are busy bickering and complaining about each other. And this emerging tension between members of various parties is a matter of concern to the higher ups.
