Saath director Anju Seth conducted a one-on-one session with the women and discussed various issues affecting them.

The NGO has been working with the wives of the jawans since 2002. The wives of the jawans face problems of wife beating, alcoholism, and womanising.

Chandra, a counsellor from SAATH said, “One jawan’s wife, tired of her husband, wanted to commit suicide. She complained of her husband’s alcoholism and womanising nature, but said she couldn’t kill herself because of her children.”

She added: “The wives of defence personnel need to come out of the block that they are alone and have to manage homes all alone. They need to develop an emotional balance and increase their tolerance power. They need to learn to communicate with their husbands and co-operate with their work schedules. As far as extra marital affairs are concerned, they need to broaden their perspectives.”
