Ahmedabad Acting on a tip-off, officials of the Ahmedabad City Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) have busted a racket in counterfeit currency notes and arrested two persons from near Kotarpur area with fake currency notes worth more than Rs 3 lakh on Tuesday. Further investigations are on to nab the kingpin.

The two arrested have been identified as Suresh Mali a native of Bhinmal village of Jhalor district in Rajasthan and Dungar Rabari alias Dipak from Antarsuba Ashram village of Vijaynagar taluka of Sabarkantha district.

DCB officials have seized counterfeit notes of the face value Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denominations amounting to Rs 3.1 lakh from the two.

According to DCB officials, in their preliminary interrogation, the two have confessed to have hatched a conspiracy to circulate counterfeit currency notes in the country in connivance with another person from Rajasthan who has been identified as Mithalal Mali alias Mukesh alias Harish alias Thakur.

DCB officials said Suresh had promised to give fake currency notes worth Rs 1 lakh in lieu of Rs 18,000 real currency notes to Dungar Rabari.

Following which, Rabari had demanded fake notes worth Rs 3 lakh.

On Tuesday, Mali had come to give the consignment of counterfeit notes to Rabari when they were nabbed by DCB officials who had mounted surveillance at the spot following a tip-off. Further investigations are on to nab Mithalal Mali.
