Rajkot A man committed suicide hours afterhis wife killed herself at Wankaner in Rajkot district. The couple had infant twins.

Preliminary investigation by the Rajkot rural police, on Tuesday, revealed that Sunita Detroja (28) committed suicide following a quarrel with her mother-in-law on Monday.

After her body was taken to the hospital, her husband, Bharat, jumped in front of a train and ended his life.

The police said they are not yet aware of the reason why the man killed himself.

The Wankaner police said that Sunita, who had quarrelled with her mother-in-law, hanged herself from a ceiling fan using a dupatta on Monday evening.

According to the police, the Detrojas, instead of informing the police, first took Sunita's body to a temple before bringing it to a government hospital.

The family said it was a ritual they follow.

But hours after Sunita's postmortem, Bharat disappeared. His body was found on the railway tracks between Wankaner town and Lunsariya village.

"He too committed suicide; why, we don't know yet. The family is shocked by the suicides of Bharat and Sunita," said the police.

A suicide case has been registered by the police. Bharat and Sunita had been married for over a year. They have left behind two infant children—a boy and a girl.
