Rajkot, March 5 The city police on Wednesday arrested a couple for killing the husband’s uncle, who had allegedly raped the woman.

Adul Ibrahmin was reportedly clubbed to death by Salma (25), his nephew’s wife, at Nani Mengani village in Kotdasangani taluka on Tuesday.

Sources said that Salma confessed to committing the crime. She said her husband helped her in the murder.

The Rajkot Rural police said the deceased was attacked by the couple with an iron rod. He later succumbed to the injuries sustained on his head.

Salma told the police that Abdul had raped her six months ago and threatened her to remain silent about the incident.

She said she was alone at her village farmhouse when Abdul arrived and threatened to kill her husband. She claimed she attacked him in a fit of rage, resulting in his death.

She further said Adbul had been behaving indecently with her for a long time, but she did not complain against him, as she feared it would affect her married life.

The police said the couple, married for two years, were residents of Khodiyarnagar on Morbi Road. The deceased was their neighbour.
