Vadodara In a shocking incident, a courier agent coming from Jambusar in Bharuch district was robbed off Rs 2.26 lakh on Thursday night at the Kirti Stambh bus stand near Rajmahal Road in Vadodara. Police said two unidentified persons, armed with knives, attacked the victim and got away on a motorbike with the money stashed inside a safety bag.

According to Navapura police, the loot took place on Thursday around 9:15 pm when courier agent Sitaram Prajapati, belonging to Ramesh Chandra and Co, was coming back with a parcel containing Rs 2.26 lakh from several businessmen, when the robbers attacked from behind.

A Navapura police officer said the accused, aged about 40 years frisked Prajapati while one of them was holding a knife at his throat.

“Then they found the bundles of 500-rupee notes stashed inside a parcel and got away with the money on a black Pulsar motorcycle,” added a police officer.

On the other hand, city police managed to catch a chain snatcher near Atladra Police chowki on Friday with help of the pedestrians.

Javed Ansari tried stealing a gold-polished chain from a housewife, Hema Patel, near the General Motors showroom in Atladra. Makarpura police officers said that Patel was on her way to a private nursing home, where her relative is undergoing treatment, when the accused came from the back and tried to run away with the chain.

“Later, with the help of some pedestrians, police nabbed Ansari and found the chain,” added a cop at Makarpura.
